Snapfire is a canvas-based aim trainer set in deep space. Glowing supernova targets spawn one at a time across a star-dusted canvas, each pulsing from small to full size in a bloom animation then fading back to nothing. Your job is to click or tap the target before it disappears. Click during the bloom peak — the first 300 milliseconds of the target's life — and you earn the maximum 150 points. Click later, between 300 and 700 ms, and you earn 100 points. Any click after 700 ms rewards 50 points. If the target fully fades without a click, you take a strike.
Three strikes end the round. Land three or more consecutive hits without a miss and a 1.2x streak multiplier activates on every subsequent hit until the streak breaks. Snapfire has four modes: Flick (10 shots, standard targets), Stream (unlimited targets for 30 seconds), Precision (20 shots with smaller, faster targets and 1.5x score multiplier), and Daily Challenge (a seeded sequence that's the same for every player on a given day, playable once per calendar day).
Only one target is ever on screen. After each hit or expiry the next is scheduled behind a randomised gap of roughly 150 to 400 milliseconds, so the rhythm can never be pre-aimed, and targets never spawn in the reserved strip along the top where the HUD sits. The HUD shows your score, the mode name, shots taken out of the mode's limit, three hearts for your remaining lives, and a streak readout that appears at two consecutive hits.
Stream is the exception: it runs on a clock, so the shot counter stays blank and a countdown in tenths of a second is drawn across the top instead. In every mode, three strikes ends the round. The results screen then breaks the run down into hits, misses, accuracy, perfect hits, best streak and personal best before offering the score to the leaderboard.
Every target grows to 1.2x its base radius over the first 300 milliseconds, settles back to normal size over the next 300, then fades out across its final 400. Standard targets live 800 to 1400 milliseconds; Precision divides that by 1.5, landing around 530 to 930. Score bands read off the target's age at the moment you click, not its size — under 300 ms pays 150, under 700 pays 100, anything later (including a click during the fade) pays 50. Multipliers apply in a fixed order: Precision's 1.5x first, then the streak's 1.2x. A bloom hit in Precision on an active streak is worth 270, the game's highest single click.
Most browser aim trainers are a grid of circles and a timer. Snapfire's departure is that timing counts as much as accuracy — payout depends on how early in the target's life you got there, so two players with identical accuracy can post very different scores. The three-strike system is the second break: most trainers let you flail and score the average, whereas here a miss is expensive and a run can end early. The four modes split the skill apart — Flick is a short repeatable burst, Stream is endurance under a tightening clock, Precision is small-target control, and the Daily is a fixed, comparable test.
Aim trainers came out of the competitive shooter scene, isolating the click-on-target drill from movement and recoil. Snapfire keeps that lineage but borrows the perfect-timing idea from rhythm games, where landing inside a narrow early window beats merely being correct. The supernova framing follows from the mechanic — a radial gradient that inflates then fades shows plainly that a target has a peak and then it's gone.
Aiming is pointer-based — a mouse click on desktop, where the cursor becomes a crosshair, or a single tap on touch devices, captured so tapping never scrolls or zooms the page. The mode buttons and the mute control are ordinary focusable buttons reachable with Tab and Enter, but there is no keyboard aiming. Audio is minimal: a high blip on a hit, a low buzz on a miss, a rising three-note phrase at the end of a round, all switchable with the SFX button.
