How to Play Daybreak
Two synthwave cityscapes are shown side by side — Scene A (original) and Scene B (modified). Five differences are hidden in Scene B. Find them all as fast as possible.
Click or tap any suspicious spot on either panel. A glowing coral ring pulses on both panels at once when you land a hit. A red flash marks a miss.
Tips and Strategy
- Scan systematically — divide each panel into thirds (sky, mid-skyline, foreground) and compare layer by layer.
- Look for color-shift differences — a neon sign that glows a different hue between panels is the most common category.
- Check palm trees and hovercars for presence differences — count them on each side. A missing or extra element stands out quickly once you look for it.
- Save hints for the last difference — the first few are usually found quickly; the last one is often a subtle building-height change or billboard pattern swap.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Daily mode in Daybreak?
Daily mode uses the current UTC date as a seed so every player worldwide sees the exact same scene and the same 5 differences. Your solve time is submitted to a daily leaderboard. The puzzle resets at midnight UTC. Classic mode generates a fresh random scene every round.
How are scores calculated?
Score = 1000 minus (seconds elapsed × 5) minus (hints used × 100). Finding all 5 differences quickly with no hints maximises your score. Wrong clicks do not subtract points but they waste time, which indirectly lowers your score.
What kinds of differences appear in Daybreak?
Five categories: color-shift (a neon sign changes hue between panels), presence (a palm tree or hovercar appears or disappears), size (a background building grows or shrinks by about 20%), position (a hovercar shifts across the sky), and shape (a billboard's geometric pattern changes). Every puzzle blends these categories for variety.
How do hints work?
You start each puzzle with 3 hints. Tapping HINT reveals a yellow dashed bounding box around one undiscovered difference on both panels simultaneously. Each hint costs 100 points from your final score. Once all 3 hints are used the button disables.
Does Daybreak work on mobile?
Yes. On screens narrower than 520 px the two panels stack vertically — Scene A on top, Scene B below — so you can tap each panel comfortably with a thumb. Hit boxes scale with the canvas size so tap accuracy on mobile matches click accuracy on desktop.
