PLINKO

How to Play Plinko

Plinko is a single-player carnival chip-drop game. Each round gives you 10 chips to drop through a brass peg board. Click or tap the top bar to set your aim reticle, then release to drop — the chip bounces left and right through 10 rows of pegs before landing in one of 9 scoring slots at the bottom. The centre slot is worth 1000 points; values taper to 100 at the edges. Build your score multiplier by avoiding the edge slots, and look for the red star bonus pegs that can push your multiplier up to 5x.

The board follows the classic Galton-board shape made famous by television game shows and midway carnivals: each row holds one more peg than the row above it, so every bounce is a fresh left-or-right coin flip and no two drops trace quite the same path. Over ten chips the maths of the binomial distribution pulls most landings toward the middle slots, which is exactly why the multiplier system rewards streaks of non-edge landings — the skill lies in reading how the difficulty setting changes the chip size, the bounce randomness, and where the star pegs sit, then adjusting your aim a few pixels at a time rather than re-aiming wildly after every drop.

Strategy Tips

Frequently Asked Questions

How do pegs affect the chip path in Plinko?
Each peg deflects the chip with a small random nudge on top of the physics bounce. Even a perfectly centred drop will not always land in the centre slot — aim well and expect variation. The randomness is what makes each drop exciting and gives you a reason to drop all 10 chips.
What are the red star pegs in Plinko?
Red star pegs are bonus token pegs that appear in the lower half of the board on Easy and Normal difficulty. When your chip contacts one during its fall, your score multiplier increases by 1 (up to the mode cap of 5x). They are removed entirely on Hard mode, making multiplier building much harder.
When does my multiplier reset in Plinko?
Your multiplier resets to 1x whenever your chip lands in an edge slot — the far-left (index 0) or far-right (index 8) slot, each worth only 100 base points. Keeping your multiplier high requires consistently landing in the middle five or six slots. The multiplier cap is 5x on Easy and Normal, 3x on Hard.
How is the score calculated in Plinko?
Each drop scores the base slot value multiplied by your current multiplier. Slot values from left to right are 100, 200, 300, 500, 1000, 500, 300, 200, 100. A centre slot drop (1000 pts) at 5x multiplier scores 5000 points for that single chip. After 10 chips your total is submitted to the leaderboard.
What does Hard mode change in Plinko?
Hard mode reduces the chip radius from 9px to 7px making the path wilder and less predictable, increases the random peg-deflection range from ±0.8 to ±1.1, removes all bonus star pegs from the board, and caps your multiplier at 3x instead of 5x. It is a significantly more chaotic experience than Normal or Easy.
Can I aim precisely in Plinko?
Yes — tap or click anywhere in the top bar of the board to set your drop position, or drag your finger left and right while holding to fine-tune. On desktop, use the Left and Right arrow keys (or A/D) to nudge the aim reticle 8 pixels at a time, then press Space or Enter to drop. Precise aiming improves your odds, but the pegs always add some unpredictability.
