Free Online Sushi Ninja Game — Slice and Serve in Your Browser
If you want a free online sushi game with more going on than just slicing fruit — no download, no sign-up, playable right now — Sushi Ninja is a recipe assembly game where slicing is only part of the challenge. Ingredients arc across the screen, you slice them and land pieces on the three plates below, and a plate has to hold a recipe's exact combination before it will bank full points. Get the recipe right; serve a plate that matches nothing and you bank a token 10 points instead.

The controls work the same on every platform:
- Desktop: Click and drag to slice across ingredients. The slice follows your cursor path.
- Mobile/tablet: Swipe across the canvas to slice — any continuous stroke over an ingredient counts as a cut. Drag near either launcher along the bottom to angle it up to ten degrees off vertical.
Ingredients follow parabolic arcs across the screen. Slice through them cleanly and the pieces land on the three plates below. No plate has a fixed target — whatever lands on it is matched against all nine recipes, and when it matches, the plate flashes TAP TO SERVE. Tap it (or press its Serve button) to bank the score and clear it. Serving a plate that matches nothing still pays 10 points. The game ends on your third strike.
The Recipe System
Sushi Ninja has nine recipes, ranging from simple two-ingredient rolls to a premium five-ingredient Chef's Special. Here's the full list with point values:
| Recipe | Ingredients | Points |
|---|---|---|
| Tuna Roll | 2 Tuna | 50 |
| Salmon Roll | 2 Salmon | 50 |
| Cucumber Roll | 2 Cucumber | 40 |
| California Roll | Crab + Avocado + Cucumber | 150 (300 with Tobiko) |
| Spicy Tuna Roll | 2 Tuna + Scallion | 175 (350 with Tobiko) |
| Philly Roll | 2 Salmon + Avocado | 200 |
| Dragon Roll | 2 Eel + Crab + Cucumber | 300 |
| Rainbow Roll | Tuna + Salmon + Yellowtail + Crab + Avocado | 500 |
| Chef's Special | 5+ different fish types | 750 |
Tobiko (fish roe) is an optional ingredient that doubles the score on California Rolls and Spicy Tuna Rolls. Slicing it is always a choice — it takes a moment to track and cut, so you trade speed for points.
Hazards
Two hazard types complicate the slicing:
- Spoiled Fish — recognizable by a greenish tint. Slicing one scatters pieces that wipe the plate they land on and cost a life; leave it alone and it falls past harmlessly. The visual distinction is intentional and easy to read even at speed, but when the screen is crowded, you have to stay selective.
- Pufferfish (Fugu) — the angle of your cut decides everything. A swipe within about 25 degrees of horizontal is worth 400 points on the spot plus Fugu Meat, a wildcard slice that stands in for any fish a recipe is still missing. Any steeper angle produces poison instead, which wipes the plate it lands on and costs a life. The pufferfish is shaped and colored distinctly — it's distinguishable from standard fish if you're paying attention.
Power-Ups
Six power-ups are launched into the stream like any other ingredient — slice one to trigger it. None of them (and no hazards) appear during the first fifteen seconds of a run:
- Zen Time — slows all ingredient speed for 10 seconds. The clearest breathing room when the screen gets overwhelming.
- Master's Plates — makes plates 1.5× larger for 15 seconds. More forgiveness on where sliced pieces land.
- Double Points — the next three recipes score twice. Most valuable when you're mid-Dragon Roll or Rainbow Roll.
- Ingredient Magnet — briefly pulls sliced pieces toward your plates.
- Tsunami — clears every ingredient and loose slice off the screen, then launches a fresh wave of ten fish. The panic button, but it refills the screen straight after.
- Auto-Roll — for 30 seconds, plates only accept ingredients for valid recipes. Wrong pieces don't land. Speeds up recipe completion when you're behind.
The 4 Blades
Each blade changes how slicing works. The starter blade (Shoshinsha Hōchō) has no special properties — just the standard slice. Unlocking the others changes the game in distinct ways:
- Yanagiba — unlocked by posting a 5,000 high score in a single run. Wider slice hitbox and +5 bonus points per cut. Makes every session slightly more rewarding once you've got the basics down.
- Deba Bōchō — unlocked after serving 10 Chef's Special orders. A 25% chance to yield triple slices from a single cut. The unlock condition ties the reward to recipe mastery, not just time played.
- Katana — unlocked at 50,000 cumulative lifetime points. A single swipe can hit multiple ingredients across the screen simultaneously. The highest-ceiling blade — it fundamentally changes how experienced players approach each arc.
Your unlock progress is saved in your browser between sessions, so every run counts toward the next blade.
Works on Mobile
Sushi Ninja was designed with touch controls as a primary concern. The gesture trail system uses short visual trails (faster fade than most slicing games) to avoid obscuring the screen during busy sections. Ingredient launch speed and arc physics are constrained within a tested range — not so fast you can't react, not so slow the game loses tension. It plays well on phones.
